Council authorizes bid process for Business 331 sidewalk after cost estimate rises

Engineering added that additional storm drainage improvements required by a limited right‑of‑way increased the estimate by about $300,000 and that bids likely will come in between $1 million and $1.5 million.
Councilmembers asked whether the council should merely authorize advertising the project for bids or also approve construction contracts in advance. Staff recommended putting the project out to bid, then returning with construction proposals once bids are in; council approved that approach. Engineering also noted that acquiring an easement from Destiny Worship Center is pending with the city attorney.
The council recorded agreement to the scope and authorized staff to advertise the project for bids; no construction contract award occurred at the meeting.
