Recycled base-course production: Staff presented bids to crush recycled material stored at the Ryan Street site for use on local projects. King Gravel submitted the low bid at $423 per ton with an estimated 30,000 tons (project estimate $126,900). Staff explained that using the village’s stockpiled recycled material still provides substantial savings compared with commercial yard prices and recommended awarding the contract to King Gravel; the committee approved the award by voice vote.
Military Road: The committee reviewed an intergovernmental agreement with the village of Rothschild for the Military Road construction project. Rothschild will hold the general contract; Weston will be responsible for installing and paying for the water and sanitary work in the project area. Weston’s estimated utility cost for the work (relocation and installation) was $94,860; the committee voted to recommend approval of the agreement and the estimated cost share to the village board.
Other action items: The committee also authorized a temporary water and sewer lateral agreement to serve a proposed duplex on Radkkey Avenue, with the property owner agreeing to pay an assessment for the main extension when Radkkey is reconstructed (no later than the 2029 construction season). Staff presented proposals for on-site construction inspection for Alderson/Bladel projects and recommended consultant selections based on experience and staffing availability.
All procurement and intergovernmental recommendations will appear on the next village board agenda for final approval where required.
