Polk County board approves routine resolutions and confirms a VSO reappointment

The Polk County Board of Supervisors approved several routine matters during its March meeting.
Resolutions approved by voice vote included No. 525, a lobbying resolution urging the governor to add funds in his budget for county courts; No. 625, authorizing cancellation of outstanding orders; No. 725, authorizing write-offs of uncollectible accounts; and No. 825, designating April 20–25, 2025 as Work Zone Awareness Week.
The county administrator presented the reappointment of Greg Shirley to the Veterans Service Officer (VSO) position; the board moved, seconded and confirmed the appointment by voice vote.
The administrator also reported several administrative updates: Nicole Roso has been approved as the new director of the ADRC and Laura Nevie will retire at month end. Judge Toland held his final CJC treatment court and Judge Anderson will take over that docket. An ad hoc mental-health committee is scheduled to meet with legislators on April 11 to discuss budgeting and services.
Board members also reported local activities, including a pilot job center "pod" at Amry Public Library that will provide Workforce Development-supported services where regional job centers are closing.
