Shelby updates: $50,000 donation for skate park, modular home park plans and Safe Routes planning grant

Finance Director Mr. Crum reported that an organization identified in the transcript as "Tubi" donated $50,000 to support Skate Ohio in renovating the skate park at Veterans Park; additional donations were reported to fund new playground equipment at Shelter Park North and potential Boy Scout involvement in an inclusive-play project. Mr. Crum said the improvements are moving forward and will enhance park amenities.
The mayor reported that the administration met with developers for a planned modular home park in the Flint Street area that is expected to break ground this fall, pending completion of paperwork and approvals. Council asked staff to keep the council updated as permitting and contracts progress.
Public works updates included catch-basin and casting replacements, coordination on a long-range (25-year) transportation plan with regional partners, and notification that Shelby received a Safe Routes to School planning grant; a consultant is expected to begin meetings in October to develop a school travel plan that will be required before applying for infrastructure funding.
Council did not take formal action on these items at the meeting but asked staff to continue coordination and report back as projects move toward procurement or construction.
