The visitors bureau recommended funding only the press box portion of a larger facility project; commissioners debated whether the county should fully fund the equipment or require a cost share but ultimately approved the grant.
Why it matters: The visitors fund is drawn from lodging taxes and is intended to support county tourism and facility improvements that bring outside visitors. York University officials said many students come from out of state and that improved broadcast and event infrastructure increases the county’s ability to host regional events.
Board action: The board approved the $75,000 allocation by roll call. Commissioners noted the county’s visitors fund balance and current allocations and directed staff to proceed with the grant administration and issuance of funds under visitor‑improvement rules.
