At the May 12 meeting, district athletics staff described a proposed expansion of a mental‑performance initiative led by Dr. Jared Spencer that the athletics office recommends for approval at the next voting meeting.
The program would deliver monthly on‑site keynote presentations for student athletes and student leaders, small‑group sessions tailored to teams and clubs, and video content produced by district media (ETV) for reuse in athletics, newsletters and parent communications. The athletics director said the program focuses on sleep, anxiety, resilience, leadership, handling pressure and other mental‑wellness topics that staff say support student athletes and leaders.
Administration recommends a $45,000 contract for the coming school year; staff told the board the cost would be funded by the state Ready to Learn grant and would cover keynotes, small‑group programming and video production. Trustees asked how student feedback and program evaluation would be gathered; staff said the program includes focus groups and planned evaluation to inform future decisions.
The item will appear for approval in the district’s upcoming voting meeting.
