The Coatesville Area School District operations committee on May 12 voted to forward several capital and maintenance items to the full board, including awards and change orders for roofing, paving, loading-dock repair and office renovations.
Committee members recommended awarding Drumheller Construction the senior-high loading-dock repair project for $149,320; staff said salvaged railings would yield savings. The committee also approved forwarding a $465,400 roof-replacement contract for the intermediate high school; staff noted the project carries a 25-year warranty.
Facilities staff reported unexpectedly high bids on a separate cash-roof project and asked contractors to re-evaluate materials and costs; the committee authorized moving the item to the full board with the understanding that staff may pull it from the agenda if bids remain unaffordable.
The committee reviewed bids for asphalt services (not to exceed $97,595), seal-coating (not to exceed $30,855) and concrete/sidewalk repairs (not to exceed $230,392, with staff expecting to limit spending to ~$200,000). Staff said the procurement was processed through the intermediate unit (IU) and letters of recommendation were forthcoming.
The committee also recommended $185,644 for district-office renovations to provide additional private office space for staff who handle confidential matters, and a $23,000 change order to add access-control hardware (door readers/controllers) at Door Run Elementary. All items were moved to the full board agenda for final action.
