Nick, representing the Friends of the Senior Center, told the council on May 12 that the organization now counts 762 members and that 347 of those are non‑residents. "We have a total of 762 members of the Friends now, and 347 of those are non‑residents, which is a huge number," Nick said.
Nick reported the Friends’ gross receipts for the annual appeal were $18,893 and that the organization had provided $10,681 in support to the senior center so far this calendar year. He also said the Friends received a designated $1,100 donation earmarked for the purchase of a new laptop for the senior center; those funds have been delivered to staff.
The Friends previewed upcoming fundraising events including a car wash in August, a seller event in October, and the annual country fair/"Grandma's Attic." Final totals from a recent spaghetti‑sauce fundraiser were not yet available but board members expect the item to net more than $1,000.
The presenters thanked volunteers and noted that Friends membership includes a large proportion of non‑residents; the group also approved a $5 increase to annual dues effective May 1.
