City Manager Miss Hilson Buds noted that the budget had been properly advertised and made available for public inspection, and the council invited members of the public to come forward and speak. "They said that the career day was a success and they really enjoyed interacting with the students," Miss Hilson Buds said while summarizing recent outreach; no members of the public came to the podium to comment on the budget during the hearing.
Because no public speakers voiced objections or submitted comments at the meeting, the council closed the hearing and scheduled the ordinance for final reading and adoption on June 23. Council members were told that any comments made during the public hearing will be taken into consideration as council continues budget deliberations in the coming weeks.
The first-reading process does not enact the budget; the council must adopt the ordinance at final reading to make the FY2027 budget effective.
