The Winter Haven City Commission on May 11 approved Resolution R-26-11 to accept a Florida Department of Environmental Protection grant (agreement WS127) for construction of an alternate reclaimed-water transmission loop.
City staff described the phase as approximately three miles of new infrastructure extending reclaimed-water transmission from County Road 653 and Thompson Nursery Road to Cypress Gardens Boulevard near the State Farm facility. Staff said the city was awarded $1.5 million in grant funding; the grant does not require matching funds, and staff estimated total construction costs for the project at about $4 million. The work includes design, permitting, and construction activities and is expected to be completed in September 2029, according to the staff presentation.
Staff recommended and the commission approved the resolution by voice vote, authorizing the city manager and appropriate staff to execute the grant agreement and take necessary actions related to the project.
