Staff said the contract carries an approximate 4% annual increase and is consistent with budget assumptions. The council also approved a bid waiver to proceed with the vendor.
Household hazardous waste: Council voted to continue participation in the regional household hazardous waste collection center through June 30, 2029, agreeing to an invoicing structure that allocates costs by housing units (operations) and by resident usage for transportation and disposal. Staff noted the program provides access to a central New Haven drop-off and occasional satellite events in Cheshire.
Band shell rental fee: The parks and recreation commission recommended a $750 daily fee for use of the Bartlem Park band shell, limited to in-town groups for a one-year trial. Parks Director John Gowwalk said event approvals will require a public gathering permit and that power/sound services will be procured and billed separately; some local groups were to receive discounted or complimentary access to audio/lighting as part of the event vendor arrangement.
