The Hutchinson Utilities Commission approved a set of routine operational and policy items, including a one-year renewal of a natural-gas transportation agreement, a minor policy edit and a repair contract for plant infrastructure.
Contracts and policy: Staff presented a one-year renewal for 3M’s natural gas transportation and daily swing supply agreement, explaining the contract term and a final meter-charge increase under the existing three-year rate schedule. Tom moved and Matt seconded approval; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Angie described a minor edit to the drug-and-alcohol policy: the staff removed a specific vendor name (Total Compliance Solutions) and replaced it with generic language because the named vendor is no longer in service. Commissioners approved the update by voice vote.
Plant maintenance: Mike reported an underground leak in a 20-inch return pipe at Plant One; GPS locating and bids were solicited. Rosno Industrial was the low bidder and staff requested authorization to execute the contract (requisition 010514) to begin repairs in mid-March. Matt moved and Tom seconded the motion to approve the requisition; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Next steps: Staff will finalize contracts, execute the repair contract and report back on scheduling. No dissent was recorded during the approvals.
