Forest Park schedules March 3 public hearing on rezoning of nearly 50 acres at Forest Fair Mall

City Manager Don Jones said the city will hold a final public hearing on March 3 before the council considers action on a rezoning proposal affecting about 49.927 acres at the back portion of Forest Fair Mall.
The ordinance was read by title as Ordinance 01d225, described as “an ordinance approving a zone change from PB (Planned Business) to IP (Industrial Park) for 49.927 acres of land located north of I‑275.” City staff did not take a final vote at the Feb. 17 meeting; the item remains at first reading.
Don Jones, the city manager, told the council the March 3 hearing will give residents an opportunity to comment on the rezoning plans and that the city had received letters from the mayor of Springdale raising concerns about screening, mounding and building placement. “We forwarded that to council,” Jones said, noting those issues will be addressed in the public process.
Because the ordinance was only read by title at first reading, no council vote on final approval occurred. The council’s next public hearing on the matter is scheduled before the March 3 meeting, when the city expects to take further action.
