The Camden County Commission voted on March 24 to accept the bulk of Road & Bridge 2026 spring bids, approving multiple vendor contracts and tabling several items for later consideration. Presiding Commissioner Ike Skelton and Commissioners James Gohagan and Steve Dougan conducted a brief session that opened at 10:00 a.m. and closed at 10:50 a.m.
Commissioner James Gohagan moved to accept trucking bids from Walters Construction and Kenny Carroll Excavating Inc., and Commissioner Steve Dougan seconded; the motion passed with recorded 'aye' votes from Gohagan and Dougan. The commission similarly approved asphalt-supply bids from Capital Materials, LLC and N.B. West Contracting Company, LLC; a batteries bid from O’Reilly Auto Parts; metal culvert pipe bids from Welborn Sales Inc. and Metal Culverts Inc.; a concrete repairs bid from Girard Concrete LLC; and a plastic culvert pipe bid from Welborn Sales Inc. All of those motions were made on the recommendation of the Camden County Road & Bridge Administrator and passed by recorded 'aye' votes from the commissioners who voted on each motion.
Presiding Commissioner Ike Skelton moved to accept Fleet Fuels LLC for per-gallon fuel markup and later moved to accept Mid-Mo Equipment Repair for heavy truck parts; both motions passed with the commissioners recorded as voting 'aye' on those items. The commission also accepted a Hot In Place Recycling bid from Gallagher Asphalt Corporation, a lane-striping bid from KW Luetkemeyer and a liquid-asphalt bid from Coastal Energy Corp. Fleet Fuels LLC's submission for oil and fluids and rental-equipment bids from A-B Rental & Sales LLC and Cummings, McGowan & West, Inc. were likewise approved.
The commission tabled selection for grader and snowplow blades, asphalt overlay work, quarry rock/sand/pea-gravel and signs & traffic control devices, each on the Road & Bridge Administrator's recommendation; table-motion votes were recorded as passing. Several solicitations drew no bids (filters, paint & bead supply, ready-mix concrete) and therefore generated no motions.
The commission directed residents and interested parties to camdencountymo.gov, where the unsealed bids from the meeting are posted under "2026 R&B Spring Bids." The meeting adjourned to any unofficial business that may develop during the day at 10:50 a.m.
What happens next: Vendors listed as accepted will proceed under the county's contracting procedures and any tabling items will be returned to the commission or administrator for further review at a later meeting or as otherwise directed by staff.
