Camden County commissioners approve two property rezones and reappoint three planning board members

Planning & Permitting Assistant Administrator Brent Hubbard opened the hearing and explained the procedures. The commission considered PZ25-0215 (Roeger Living Trust) and PZ25-0216 (JLSD, LLC) together because the properties are owned by related entities. Applicant Joe Roeger said he is a member of the LLC and the revocable trust and asked the commission to approve rezoning the properties from B-2 (general commercial) to R-1 (residential). The County Counselor stated he saw no legal issue with Mr. Roeger applying for the rezones. Commissioners approved the combined rezoning motion; Second District Commissioner Steve Dougan moved, First District Commissioner James Gohagan seconded, and the motion passed with both voting "aye."
The commission then approved PZ26-0012, a separate request filed on behalf of Justin Hicks to rezone property from R-1 to A-R (agricultural-residential). Curtis Harris, present on behalf of the applicant, stated the applicant's desire to change the zoning. Commissioner Dougan moved to approve the rezone; Commissioner Gohagan seconded and the motion passed (Dougan aye, Gohagan aye).
Also during the Planning & Zoning portion of the meeting, the Planning & Permitting Administrator reported that three board members—Robert Shields III, Cindy Skola and Rick Johnson—had requested reappointment. The commission voted "in block" to reappoint all three to four-year terms. Commissioner Dougan moved to reappoint the trio and Commissioner Gohagan seconded; the motion passed with both commissioners voting "aye."
No members of the public spoke in opposition to the rezoning requests recorded in the hearing. The Planning & Zoning hearing concluded before the commission moved on to other agenda items.
The commission's actions on those items were procedural approvals recorded in the meeting minutes; no additional conditions or amendments to the motions were recorded.
