Parks inspections find facilities largely in good shape; board awaits grant decision and notes small maintenance needs

At its May 13 meeting the Ocean Shores Parks Board reviewed inspection reports from neighborhood and regional parks and received a status update on a submitted grant application.
Board member Paul Winchester described several parks as being in good condition but recommended cleaning algae from signs at Limpet park and adding surfacing material where playground bark was thin at North Bay. "The sign could use a scrubbing," he said, and he noted that in places near play equipment "it's kinda down to the dirt." Another board member reported Chinook park's bathrooms, garbage cans and dog-park supplies were being well maintained and that docks were in good shape, though some water areas are beginning to turn green.
Members also discussed an RCO grant application. A board member reported the council "approved going forward with applying for the grant" and agreed the local match, and other participants said staffer Tim finished and submitted the application and the board is now in a waiting period for review and award. Board members asked staff to check the timeline for review and said they would follow up at the next meeting.
Other operational items noted: cameras at Chinook and North Bay remain under repair, lights at the skateboard park are being worked on, and Emerson Park's water fountain is expected to be installed this spring or summer. The board also said two pending board-applicant interviews would be conducted after the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at about 1:?? p.m. after a motion and voice vote.
