Resident urges board to revive stalled North End Canal master plan and place it on budget priority list

During public comment at the May 13 meeting of the Ocean Shores Parks Board, resident Don asked why follow-up public engagement for the North End/Canal master plan had not occurred and urged the board to restore the project to the budget priority list.
Don told the board the city previously paid AHBL to complete a comprehensive master plan in 2024 and contracted The Watershed Company in 2019 to do related study work. He said those documents, and an initial round of public outreach, are available on the parks board web page and that a planned second workshop "just died." He urged the board to consider re-adding the project to the budget list so the Watershed Company–sponsored follow-up public involvement could occur.
President Stacy Lim said she had recently taken over as president and did not have an immediate answer but would look into what happened and follow up. Lim asked whether audience comments were being recorded in the meeting notes and confirmed she would check the status and report back.
No formal action or budget reallocation took place at the meeting. The board agreed to follow up and to check the referenced documents and earlier outreach materials before the next meeting.
Next steps: President Lim said she would investigate the planning history and the status of the planned follow-up workshop and return with information at the board's next meeting on June 10.
