Commissioners approve Stolenberg Lane reconstruction, accept $250,000 from Swan Valley

Bonneville County commissioners voted March 3, 2026, to approve the Stolenberg Lane reconstruction project and accept about $250,000 in funding from Swan Valley to help cover construction costs.

County staff told commissioners they have an excavator lined up to rent beginning about May 1, geogrid and geotextile fabric in stock, crushed gravel staged on site and corrugated metal pipes (culverts) identified for replacement — likely one or two crossings. Staff said work will include removing existing material, rebasing and resurfacing the roadway.

The funding acceptance was tied to a motion to move forward with reconstruction; the motion was seconded and carried. Staff said the county previously budgeted for the project and is prepared to process invoices and advance payments to support mobilization.

Commissioners and staff discussed a possible local donation of pit run material from a nearby contractor that could reduce haul costs. Staff said they would follow up with the contractor and coordinate logistics if the donation is available. Officials also noted the road is single-access in places and that the county will coordinate communications with residents about closures or alternating access during work.

The county did not provide a firm completion date during the meeting; staff estimated mobilization in May and signaled that traffic control and resident notifications will be planned in advance. The meeting record shows the board approved the project and accepted Swan Valley's contribution.

The county indicated it will continue planning and will notify the public with specific schedules and traffic impacts as construction approaches.
