The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors on May 12 adopted proclamations recognizing National Public Works Week (May 17–23, 2026) and the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee (May 14–17, 2026).
Public Works Director Micah (Micah Martin) accepted the public works proclamation and thanked crews for projects including roadway resurfacing, bridge work and disaster recovery. "We're asked all the time to do more with less," Micah told the board, highlighting workforce and budget pressures.
Fair organizers described a busy program that includes junior livestock and industrial arts auctions, a junior weld competition, expanded family entertainment and what they estimate to be record entries this year. Organizers said recent auctions have generated about $1 million for youth programs in recent years and said attendance can exceed 40,000 people over the four days.
The board approved the proclamations by unanimous voice votes and invited staff and organizers to bring forward any logistical or funding items needing board consideration.
What's next: the fair and public works celebrations proceed on their scheduled dates; staff will coordinate any operational support the events require.
