Parkway Rockwood Community Ed reports growth, adds drop-in care and switches to daily invoicing

Mike Cepi, director of the Parkway Rockwood Community Education Program, briefed the Parkway C-2 board on program participation and operational changes Wednesday.
"We are in year 12 of the partnership," Cepi said, reporting that the program fills more than 40,000 seats a year and currently has more than 2,500 participants across programs. He reported 1,080 VentureClub active contracts as of March 2 and later updated the number to 1,084 active contracts with 48 pending.
Cepi highlighted staffing: about 76 full-time staff and roughly 850 part-time staff across the program-year cycle, with seasonal hiring peaks and turnover by program. To respond to lower enrollment at some sites, the program has piloted "dual-site facilitators" who oversee two locations; assistant facilitators remain in place to lead sites when a facilitator is absent.
On services and billing, Cepi announced a new drop-in care option to allow families to request care when space is available at select sites. He also described a change to daily-rate invoicing intended to make bills reflect actual contracted attendance: "It doesn't change the overall amount that folks are paying," he told the board; families who want budget-billing options can still prepay.
Board members asked about CPR/first-aid course availability and swim-club logistics; Cepi said staff had tried to schedule CPR classes but could not secure an instructor and that the program coordinates with parent booster groups on swim-meet finances. He also reported midseason and year-end evaluations for year-round programs to collect parent feedback.
The presentation closed without a board vote; Cepi said registration for next year had opened and Parkway already had more contracts this early in the enrollment period than the previous year.
