Palis Park council approves Verizon tower lease amendment; consent agenda, minutes also pass by roll call

The Palos Park Village Council on May 11 voted to approve several routine items and a contract amendment for a village communications tower.
By unanimous roll call the council approved the consent agenda, which included Resolution 2026R04 appointing Village Manager Janine M. Smith as the village delegate to the Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency, a warrant list dated May 11, 2026 in the amount of $194,897.16 and a supplemental warrant list for manual checks, payroll and recurring transfers totaling $499,590.
Later in the meeting Manager Janine Smith presented a recommendation to approve the third amendment to the lease for the village’s Wolf Road communications tower with Verizon Wireless. Smith summarized lease terms on the record, saying the current monthly rent is $5,475.15 (effective Nov. 1, 2025) and that the amendment sets a rent amount of $5,000 per month starting in November 2031 with 15% escalators every five years thereafter through the lease term to 2046. After a motion and a second the amendment passed on a roll call; Commissioners Patan, Wade, Reid, Poke and Mayor Nicole Milovich Walters recorded affirmative votes.
The council also approved minutes for the April 27, 2026 regular meeting and the March 19, 2026 special meeting during the opening portion of the meeting. The meeting adjourned by a subsequent unanimous roll call vote.
No motions failed or were tabled during the May 11 meeting; council members did not record dissent on the items voted that evening.
