Council to seek taker for large stormwater device, will demolish if none found

Council members discussed an oversized, reinforced concrete stormwater device that was delivered and stored on private property years ago and which the property owner has asked the town to remove.
Staff outlined three options: contact the original hauling company to remove and dispose of it; hire local contractors to move it to town property (for later use or storage); or demolish and properly dispose of it. Staff provided preliminary cost estimates: demolition and disposal at roughly $1,500; local moving with available equipment estimated at about $4,500$5,000; bringing a specialized hauler from out of state could be substantially more.
The council voted to solicit nearby municipal takers (with staff-provided photos and specifications) for three weeks; if no jurisdiction or agency agrees to accept the device, the town will contract for demolition and disposal at the locally estimated cost. Councilors asked staff to document the device's specifications and to report back on responses.
