Commission agrees to $6,000 opioid-fund match for regional behavioral-health feasibility update

Miss Sanchez briefed the commission on a regional behavioral-health funding opportunity. She said the award to the region increased from $45,000 to $60,000 and that the required 25% match equals $15,000. She proposed splitting a $12,000 cash match with Curry County so Roosevelt County's cash share would be $6,000 and the remaining $3,000 could be covered with in-kind contributions such as staff time.
Sanchez said opioid-settlement funds are available and that the county has "around $400-something thousand" remaining in that fund. Commissioners agreed the behavioral-health use is an appropriate expenditure for opioid funds. One commissioner said, "I can't think of a better thing to spend that money on."
A motion to withdraw a one-time $6,000 from the opioid fund to provide the county's cash share carried unanimously. The motion specified a one-time payment for this project; commissioners did not commit to future cash contributions beyond this request.
