At its March 4 meeting the North Newton School Board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes, facility use and field‑trip requests, financial claims, ECA purchases (athletics equipment), and personnel items.
Facility use approvals included a summer baseball field use request (coach Gibson), and a white bus field trip to an FFA leadership contest. The board approved financial claims as submitted and routine personnel actions; among approvals, the board confirmed hiring Gavin as elementary choral director to serve Lake Village, Lincoln and Morocco schools.
The board also accepted a $5,100 donation specifically to pay for a custom softball windscreen and associated signage. Donors recorded in the meeting minutes: Republic Service ($500), Hair Quarters ($200), Home Run Homes ($300), Agra Vision Farm Management ($500), Kentland Bank ($500), Deont State Bank ($500), Epiphany Administrative Solutions ($500), Roseline Electric ($100), Hangar Insurance Group ($250), Always Underground Inc. ($1,000), Quintel Inc. ($375), and Jumpy Man's Industrial Cleaning LLC ($375). The windscreen donation had been added to the agenda as item 6D and was approved by motion.
The board also approved a $55,676 phase‑two LED lighting proposal for the high school (Roselon Electric) and authorized Wiseman Tree Removal Services to remove trees near Lincoln that posed a risk to a solar array (approximate cost $10,000).
