The Tuscaloosa City Council voted unanimously to order the demolition of four condemned houses at 30006 27th Street, 3326 Beck Street, 3233 Moody Street and 3235 Moody Street during its regular meeting.
The council took the action after city staff outlined the violations found at each property. Mr. Williams said the property at 30006 27th Street was condemned Dec. 11, 2025, and "has 47 housing code violations." He said the owner had been contacted and was aware of the hearing but did not appear. Similar findings and owner-notification statements were made for the other three addresses; two of the Moody Street properties were listed with 46 violations each. In each case the clerk opened a public hearing, no members of the public appeared to speak, and the council voted to order demolition.
The council directed that the cost of demolition be charged back to the property owners, consistent with the notices described in staff reports. The meeting record shows unanimous "yes" votes on each motion. No appeals, delays or authorizations for abatement alternatives were recorded in the transcript.
The demolitions follow formal condemnation determinations made earlier (noted in the record as Dec. 11, 2025). Council members did not elaborate on reuse or resale plans for the parcels during the meeting. The clerk indicated the demolition orders were adopted and will proceed according to city procedures.
