Harahan council approves small garbage fee increase to $17.68 per month per can

Staff reported the increase is driven by a 2.7% CPI-U escalation in the city's existing garbage contract and that the new rate takes effect immediately. Several council members said Harahan’s overall cost remains lower than neighboring jurisdictions and praised staff and the contractor for maintaining competitive pricing.
The motion to adopt the adjusted charge passed by unanimous voice vote (five ayes, zero nays).
