The McDonald County Commission on Dec. 8 approved a court order directing County Treasurer Fuller to immediately transfer $118,230.61 in use-tax revenues to the Law Enforcement fund to address a shortfall. Commissioner Jamey Cope moved for the order; Commissioner Rick Lett seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
County Treasurer Fuller presented an updated current-asset report showing that both the Health Department and Law Enforcement remained in deficit even after recent sales tax disbursements. Commissioners said the transfer was intended to maintain essential public safety operations while they consider longer-term budget adjustments.
The commission also signed and approved accounts payable totaling $104,075.61. Minutes record that, to date, $423,230.61 has been transferred from General Funds to Law Enforcement to maintain a positive balance; commissioners said they will reassess the departmentsfinancial status after payroll is processed at the end of the month.
Commissioners directed staff to apply heightened oversight to future 2026 budget requests, saying they will more closely scrutinize expenditures that contribute to departmental deficits. No ordinance, statute, or additional legal citation was referenced in the minutes beyond the court-order action recorded by motion.
The commission adjourned and said it will reconvene Dec. 10, 2025.
