Presiding Commissioner Bryan Hall, Eastern Commissioner Jamey Cope and Western Commissioner Rick Lett met Jan. 5, 2026, and approved financial expenditures related to the county's FY2026 budget. County Clerk Jessica Cole was asked to distribute preliminary departmental budget approvals so department meetings can begin the following week.
The proposed FY2026 budget will be available for public inspection beginning Jan. 13 at the County Clerk's office. The commission set a public Budget Hearing for Jan. 28 at 10:00 a.m. in the office of the County Commissioners; the minutes do not record a vote tally or identify who moved or seconded the approval of expenditures.
The minutes also note that commissioners attended a landfill meeting from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Neosho on the same day but do not record any formal action taken at that meeting. The commission adjourned and scheduled a reconvening on Jan. 7, 2026. The minutes were signed and approved Jan. 8, 2026 (Book PP, p. 608).
Next steps: departmental budget meetings to begin after Clerk circulation and the public budget hearing on Jan. 28.
