McDonald County to hold storm-relief funds for fire departments pending distribution breakdown

County Treasurer Sheila Fuller told the McDonald County Commission on Dec. 15 that federal/state storm-relief funds from the April 2025 storm are currently held in the county treasury and should be redistributed to the fire departments that assisted with relief efforts. Fuller said the funds were received from the State of Missouri in response to the April 2025 disaster and that the county needs a department-level breakdown before disbursing payments.
"County Treasury needs to redistribute these funds back to the Fire Departments involved in the post storm relief efforts," Fuller reported in the meeting minutes. Commissioners said they would await a detailed breakdown from the Emergency Management Director before authorizing distribution.
The commission did not set a disbursement timetable at the meeting; Fuller and the Emergency Management Director are expected to provide the requested allocation details so the county can make payments to the participating departments. The minutes record the discussion but show no formal vote or transfer at the Dec. 15 session.
The commission reconvened Dec. 17 to finalize the minutes; no further action on the storm funds is recorded in the Dec. 15 minutes.
