McDonald County commissioners amend minutes to correct wastewater ordinance prohibitions

McDonald County commissioners voted unanimously April 1, 2026, to retract and amend the minutes from their Feb. 4 meeting to correct newly added prohibitions in the county wastewater ordinance.
Western Commissioner Rick Lett moved to retract and amend the Feb. 4 minutes; Presiding Commissioner Bryan Hall seconded. All three commissioners present — Bryan Hall, Jamey Cope and Rick Lett — voted in favor and the motion carried.
The corrected language adds prohibitions numbered 4.10 and 4.11. Under the revised text, 4.10 bars installation of an on‑site wastewater system on a lot smaller than 0.92 acres when the lot was platted and recorded or approved by the Department of Natural Resources after May 6, 1999. The new 4.11 prohibits attaching more than one residence, house, home or commercial facility to a single on‑site wastewater system; multiple family dwellings such as duplexes are treated as a single residence.
The minutes and amendment record that the county’s purpose in reviewing the ordinance was to tighten regulations to prepare for anticipated growth and to help preserve McDonald County’s natural resources and ensure infrastructure is properly installed.
Earlier in the morning the commissioners observed progress on the Dead End Lane Bank Stabilization Project; no formal action on that project was recorded in the minutes. County Clerk Jessica Cole is listed in the meeting attendance. The commission adjourned and will reconvene on April 6, 2026.
