Boone County commissioners authorize $500,000 transfer, accept road project completion and approve equipment contracts

Chairman Jon Lindgren and Commissioners Brian J. Yosten and Matt Niewohner voted unanimously to permit the Boone County Treasurer to transfer $500,000 from Fund 0100 (General) to Fund 0200 (Road) through the vendor claims process (Transfer #6). The board also approved county payroll claims for the March 22–April 21, 2026 pay period, which included $138,472.81 charged to the General Fund and $85,955.26 charged to the Road Fund.
Jason Siedschlag of NMC presented multiple Customer Value Agreement (CVA) options for a District 2 motor grader (Unit 1‑29). Options ranged from a county‑performed basic plan at $3,511 to a premium NMC‑performed plan at $14,358. The board approved the Standard CVA with PM3 and PM4 services performed by an NMC technician and oil supplied by NMC, approximately $9,834 (motion by Jon Lindgren; second by Matt Niewohner).
The board accepted Change Order #1 for the Albion North Road Project, which reduced the overall contract by $4,168.75, approved Payment Application #1 for $120,908.00, and authorized the chairman to sign the Certificate of Substantial Completion indicating the project was complete as of April 20, 2026 (motion by Matt Niewohner; second by Brian J. Yosten).
With a new county ambulance delivered, the board declared the 2020 Ford F‑45 Demers ambulance surplus property and approved advertising it for sealed bids in the Albion News and Petersburg Press, accepting bids until 4:00 p.m. on May 22, 2026 and opening them May 27, 2026.
Applied Connective Technologies presented quotes for vehicle and facility camera systems. County Sheriff Denny Johnson described the existing patrol system and lifespan/cost considerations. After review, the board approved a Video Telematics system for 56 camera units (Courthouse and Road Department vehicles/motor graders) with monthly service totaling $1,783 and authorized the county clerk to sign the quote (motion by Jon Lindgren; second by Matt Niewohner).
The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department requested visitor‑promotion funding to advertise its Fireman’s Cruise and Dance Night on June 13, 2026. The commissioners approved the application and use of the Boone County Visitors Promotion Fund as submitted.
The board approved Resolution 2026‑14, allowing Cornhusker Public Power District to trench a single‑phase primary electric line underground beneath the listed county road sections to serve a residence at 330th Street. Highway Superintendent Brian McDonald had reviewed the request prior to the meeting.
Road Foremen Brent Pribnow and Kent Hamilton and Road Supervisor Dan Evans were present to discuss departmental personnel needs; the board reviewed the update and took no action. Chairman Lindgren adjourned the meeting at 1:40 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for May 11, 2026.
