CVTA committee advances branding and funding‑acknowledgement policy after removing punitive enforcement clause

The draft policy — developed with TAC input and packet materials starting on p.33 — lists recommended acknowledgements for project signage, press materials and displays. TAC discussed an initial draft that included a compliance mechanism (item 6 on p.36) that would have allowed withholding reimbursements for repeated failure to credit CVTA funding; TAC removed that punitive clause before recommending the version now before the finance committee.
"We want the public to know CVTA is part of advancing many of these projects, but we don't want the policy to be punitive," CVTA staff said. Committee members generally supported a voluntary, outreach‑focused approach and stressed the need for consistent recognition across jurisdictions.
A motion to recommend consideration of the TAC‑revised policy (clean version with item 6 removed) passed by voice vote. Staff said the item will be placed on the full authority agenda in June with a clean copy for review and a redline showing the removed compliance language.
Committee members asked that staff prioritize practical tools — templates for signage, a short video and jurisdictional assistance — to make consistent acknowledgement straightforward for local project sponsors.
