Walton-Verona board recognizes longtime teacher Elizabeth Sison and honors Governor's Scholars students

The board also introduced Walton-Verona High School students chosen for statewide summer programs: multiple students were selected to the Kentucky Governor's Scholar Program (GSP) and one to the Governor's School of Entrepreneurs (GSE). Mr. Nash described GSP as a selective five-week residential program for rising seniors focused on academic enrichment and leadership, and GSE as a three-week entrepreneurship program. Two students introduced at the meeting, Evan R and Lola S, said they had listed application preferences (examples given included political and legal issues, creative writing, psychology, business and health care).
The board applauded the students and encouraged families and the community to support their participation in these selective state-sponsored programs.
