Walton-Verona board approves tentative 2026-27 budget, signs off on routine contracts and pay applications

In other business the board approved a sequence of routine motions: minutes from the April 28 regular meeting and the May 6 special meeting; the superintendent expense report; the treasurer's report and order of the treasurer of the bills; fidelity bonds for Kevin Ryan and Britney Robinson; a pledge of collateral agreement with Heritage Bank; the 2026-27 calendar dates; final pay application 29 to Morell Construction for Wanda Intermediate School; pay application seven for the middle-school window replacement project; the 2026-27 district code of conduct; authorization to hire emergency substitutes for 2026-27; approval of independent contractor agreements (including Ability on the Move LLC and Strong Vision Services LLC); and an agreement with Step Ahead Pediatric Therapy. The board also approved the Walton Independent School District Technology Plan for 2026-27 and authorized use of Delta Airlines and Budget car rental for a trip to Portland, Oregon.
The board asked about the status of new buses for district routes; a staff member said the buses are being prepared and are expected to arrive over the summer, with the aim of having them in service on the first day of school.
