Dobbs Ferry proclaims days for long‑serving ZBA member Bruce Gambos and winning Eco Warriors team

The Dobbs Ferry Board of Trustees used part of its meeting to recognize long‑time volunteer service and youth environmental engagement.

Mayor Christineell read a proclamation honoring Bruce Gambos for 35 years of service on the village Zoning Board of Appeals and proclaimed Wednesday, May 13, 2026, as Bruce Gambos Day in the village. Gambos thanked the mayor and trustees and praised his zoning board colleagues, saying the board ‘‘was one of these rare boards where it was a pleasure to work together’’ and that members approached decisions cooperatively.

The board also added and read a proclamation recognizing the Eco Warriors, a team that helped the village secure a $3,000 municipal sponsorship prize after competing in the Resilient Rivertowns Earth Month scavenger hunt. The proclamation noted more than 150 teams across neighboring river towns participated in missions such as identifying native and invasive plants, composting and supporting local food banks.

Youth members who accepted the recognition described hands‑on activities: one participant said it "was also fun helping the environment like sustain instead of like destroying," and another described teamwork in removing invasive plants and donating to environmental efforts.

Both proclamations were ceremonial recognitions; the board invited the honorees for photos and public acknowledgment during the meeting.
