Students report 25,524 volunteer hours and community partnerships at board meeting

Students from Arrowhead’s Warhawk Interact group presented to the board about their service work and community partnerships.

Michaela Kennet and Amelia Grinker, student board officers, told the board the club had 253 total members this year and noted 39 freshmen in the membership cohort. They reported volunteer hours of 1,876 in the first semester and 648 in the current semester so far, and cited a total of about 25,524 volunteer hours for the year and 115 events. The students said their club coordinated with local organizations including Lake Country Rotary, Heartley Kiwanis and Optimist Club of Lake Country and partnered with feeder schools on book drives and events.

The presentation highlighted annual activities such as a book fair that drew nearly 300 community attendees, partnerships that supplied volunteers to community events and the sixth annual football food drive; students reported Arrowhead raised over $1,900 in cash donations and provided 7,025 meals through the food drive this year (10,868 meals when combined with other participating schools' totals cited in the presentation).

Board members and staff asked about outreach to feeder schools, sign-up and tracking procedures, and event support; students explained a signup and email system and that the student board tracks hours and attendance to teach accountability. Board members praised the club’s contributions and encouraged the students to return to future meetings with updates.

The student's presentation occupied a significant portion of the meeting and drew positive remarks from the board.
