Connor Alley, the Town of Fort Myers Beach contracts procurement manager, announced on May 15 that the town received no bids for solicitation 26-15-PW, a lighting restoration project for Old San Carlos Boulevard and Times Square. "The town of Fort Myers Beach received no bids for this solicitation," Alley said during a bid-opening at Town Hall Council Chambers.
Alley said the solicitation had been broadcast on April 15, 2026, at 11:16 a.m. and required electronic submissions through DemandStar no later than 2 p.m. local time. He noted two addenda had been issued for the solicitation and reminded bidders that any submissions received after the deadline would remain unopened.
"This solicitation will be recorded as a no bid opening," Alley said. He added that with no bids received, "the town will evaluate the next steps, which may include readdvertising of the solicitation or other procurement actions as authorized." The bid-opening was recorded as concluding at 2:16 p.m.
The announcement means the town has not awarded the contract and must decide whether to revise the solicitation, adjust project specifications or timing, or take other procurement actions allowed under its rules. Alley identified Jason Freeman, deputy town clerk, as present at the opening but did not report any additional responses or submissions.
The town did not specify a timetable for re-advertising or what changes, if any, it might make to solicitation 26-15-PW. Funding sources and the project cost estimate were not stated during the bid opening.
