District to seek board approval for auditorium rigging and to consider buying two 9–10‑passenger vans

At the buildings-and-grounds portion of the meeting, administrators presented multiple proposed purchases and asked the committee to place them on the board agenda for approval.

On auditorium rigging, administration said the district received a quote just under $200,000 (transcribed at $199,990) for a new rigging system that replaces older fixed-speed motors with two variable-speed motors and a programmable control panel that allows multiple rigging elements to operate simultaneously. The presenter said the electrician will handle wiring and the vendor (co‑star) will manage installation; administration asked that the item be placed on Monday's consent agenda for a second approval and said work could take two to three weeks once materials arrive.

Administration also presented quotes for two 9–10 occupant vans (driver plus nine passengers) with upfit. A single-vehicle quote was recorded in the transcript as "$58,60" (the previous June quote was about $55,000), and dealers warned that ordering new units could take up to a year because dealerships are not keeping that configuration in stock. Administrators told the committee the vans would allow more district-run trips for clubs that could not otherwise afford transportation; they proposed a field-trip request process (embedded in existing forms) on a first-come, first-served basis, with sports given practical priority for state travel. Board members discussed insurance procedures and driver clearances; administrators said insurance costs would be similar to regular vehicles and that authorized drivers would be added to coverage as needed.

Administration said it would attempt to negotiate a two-vehicle discount and requested direction to put both the van purchase and the rigging purchase on Monday night's board agenda.
