Carl Junction council debates scaling back services to neighboring Airport Drive

Staff and members described the operational impacts: line locates generate an average of about 10 locates per week for Airport Drive, lift-station calls require regular trips three times a week, and heavy equipment for leaf pickup is costly to operate and maintain. Council members noted that the only formal contract in place concerns sewer processing; other services have been provided informally as "being a good neighbor." The record also references state reporting and sampling obligations (DMR/DNR) that complicate an abrupt discontinuation of wastewater services.
Council did not adopt any ordinance or motion to end services during the meeting. Members agreed to give Airport Drive advance notice and to place the matter on a future agenda for a formal decision; staff was asked to compile a complete list of services currently provided and the associated costs ahead of that discussion. The council indicated leaf pickup timing will be considered, with the leaf-vac program expected to start after the first meeting in December.
