Public commenter says airport resolution lacks notice and urges BOCC to follow master plans

Toni Kronberg, speaking during the public-comment period of the May 12 meeting, urged county leaders to ensure the Board of County Commissioners follows required public hearing procedures before overruling Planning and Zoning Commission land-use findings on the airport modernization project.
"I went to the airport. There's not 1 sign, and you have to give the public 15 days notice the fact that there's gonna be a public hearing," she told commissioners, pressing that the county follow statutory evidentiary processes and master-plan criteria. Kronberg said the airport modernization materials lack definitive footprints and elevations and expressed particular concern about a proposed 800-space parking garage.
Staff reminded the commission that the BOCC will consider an item described in their agenda as the BOCC's action to overrule the PNC denial and that county counsel determined the matter is a formal resolution requiring two readings (May 13 and May 27). Commenters and several commissioners said they would bring procedural and evidentiary concerns to the BOCC hearing.
Kronberg also urged stronger multimodal transportation language in the plan (including explicit references to transit stops and reliability), and asked staff to consider Brush Creek Park-and-Ride as a regional intercept site. Staff said transportation language had been vetted with the elected officials transportation committee and that they would incorporate clear edits where appropriate in the final draft.
The allegation of missing posting and the claim about the BOCC prejudging the matter were not resolved on the record; staff said the BOCC schedule and legal characterization are as stated and that public speakers may raise their concerns directly at the BOCC hearings.
