Great Falls BID authorizes pursuit of budgeted pickup truck

The Great Falls Business Improvement District (BID) on April 9 authorized Chair Jason Kunz to pursue the budgeted purchase of a replacement pickup and to arrange disposal of the current BID vehicle.
Kellie Pierce, BID staff, said the Subaru the board is considering is listed at $18,500 and noted the current truck lacks power steering and is difficult to maneuver. "I will ask if Subaru will accept $17K; I will offer to put Subaru on the truck as a sponsor, if they would lower the price even more; I will also inquire if they take the old truck as a trade," Chair Jason Kunz said during the discussion.
Sherrie Arey moved to authorize Jason to pursue acquisition of the vehicle for the amount that has been budgeted and to pursue disposal of the current truck; Caralina (Cara) Carlson seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Board members framed the decision as an operational need: staff require a more maneuverable, reliable vehicle for downtown maintenance and event logistics. Kellie said Subaru would handle maintenance on the newer truck, which was a factor in the recommendation.
Next steps: Kunz will negotiate price and trade options with the dealer and report back to the board at a future meeting.
