Millersburg administrators report Philadelphia trip, Keystone online rollout, mentoring launch and internship pilot

She described a Civics and government class trip to Philadelphia that included visits to the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and thanked donors who covered transportation and tickets. "The trip allowed them to connect the classroom and their lesson to life experiences," Miss Sanduski said, noting many students were visiting Philadelphia for the first time.
Sanduski also summarized the district's Keystone testing approach for the coming term: the district will administer Keystones on computers for the first time and will direct retesting to students who previously did not pass and to those in support classes, rather than retesting all students at once. She said staff are preparing students to navigate the online platform and Desmos during class sessions.
Mrs. Clinger, the district's Civics and government teacher, and other staff provided updates on extracurricular activities: Breakfast with Santa, middle school chorus concerts, after-school tutoring (about 10 students nightly), and a quarter-end attendance celebration with music and games. She noted two students—Kelsey McCole and Kayn Reber—had been named Rotary students for the month.
A separate staff presentation described the online program's student leadership: an online committee of students will produce video, spiritwear and newsletter content starting in January. The district also reported a mentoring program pilot: 48 of 50 students completed mentor training, and about 17–18 mentors are expected to begin meetings with elementary mentees; the mentoring program is slated to launch Jan. 15. The district is also developing an internship pilot and plans to reach out to nearby districts to form an online consortium to share resources.
