Ceres police report Measure H purchases for body cameras and tasers, and a drop in overtime

Ceres — The police chief told the Measure H Citizens Oversight Committee on May 13 that Measure H funds paid for body cameras, tasers and small equipment purchases, and that improved staffing has significantly reduced overtime.
"Our major purchases out of Measure H are the Axon body camera and the tasers at 85,000, a little bit over that," the police chief said, and added $2,500 had been spent on replacement rifle parts.
The chief said the department is, for the first time in a while, fully staffed, while noting three recruits remain in the academy and three trainees are in the field. He said that the department's overtime hours had fallen from roughly 1,600 hours in October to about 700 in April, which he said will help the department's budget.
No substantive update from the fire department was recorded during this meeting.
