Controller to depart June 19; board delegates hiring authority and appoints Rumpke manager to CAC

The Waste Reduction District board heard that Controller Teresa Goins has tendered her resignation; her last day is scheduled for June 19. Board staff and the executive committee have been interviewing candidates but said they are not yet ready to recommend a final candidate to the full board.
To expedite onboarding and provide overlap for training, the board voted to delegate authority to the board chair, working with the executive committee, to make a final offer to a selected candidate. The board will ratify the appointment at the June meeting.
A motion to delegate hiring authority was moved and seconded and passed by unanimous roll call.
The board also appointed Jacob Youngblood, a recently hired district manager for Rumpke Waste and Recycling who lives in Monroe County, to the Citizen Advisory Committee. The appointment was approved unanimously by roll call.
"We would like to delegate hiring authority to the president of our board, with the request that she report back at our next meeting," a committee member said when moving the motion. The board confirmed that the executive committee and executive director would continue to be involved in candidate interviews.
The board expressed appreciation for Goins' service and said she would attend one more meeting before departing on June 19.
