Deputy Superintendent Polly briefed the School Committee that the Salem Public Schools Summer Eats program will run from Monday, June 29 through Friday, Aug. 21, providing free meals to children across the city.
Polly said last summer the program served 29,591 meals across 22 community sites. For 2026 the program will operate 11 open lunch sites and provide meals at 22 partner locations including the Boys and Girls Club, Parks and Recreation and YMCA programs; new dinner locations will include Collins Cove, Palmer Cove and Pequot Highlands. A kickoff event is scheduled for Monday, June 29 from 4 to 6 p.m., and the district will distribute details to families and the school committee.
Polly asked committee members to help spread the word; staff said they will circulate site lists and partner locations to families by email.
