Bremen Public Schools leaders outline end-of-year events, staffing and grant updates

Presenter (S1) said the district’s end-of-year lineup includes award programs and grade-level celebrations, inviting the public to an eighth-grade recognition on the 19th and saying of the eighth-grade ceremony: "This is your time to show what you've learned all year." He clarified the event is a promotional celebration rather than a graduation and said other grades will hold reward programs on the last day of school.
The district has filled a music-teacher position, is preparing a recommendation for a sixth-grade math teacher and has several elementary vacancies posted, Presenter (S1) said, adding the district intends to interview a broad pool of candidates before making final hires. He also said teachers will return in May for professional development tied to a newly adopted curriculum; another presenter was slated to give additional details about that PD later in the meeting.
Presenter (S3) highlighted student- and community-focused items: Administrative Assistants Day acknowledgements, a PTO fun run fundraiser, recent prom and scholarship night, and extracurricular results. He reported the community awarded more than $123,000 in scholarships and noted nine students took part in an enlistment ceremony committing to military service. On competitions, he said the math academic team placed third in the state and the fine-arts team placed second; the band received an all-music award.
Meeting participant (S2) praised a sixth-grade science fair after receiving a flyer from Dr. Amor, and Presenter (S1) credited Loomis for organizing the event. Presenter (S1) also thanked the PTO for Teacher Appreciation Week activities and for running fundraisers that support student events.
Staff member (S4) reported the district has ordered materials and subscriptions for four schools for next year, with remaining items to fill in for middle-school novel sets and beginning band books as students commit to band. S4 said professional development for materials and online supports is scheduled for the Tuesday and Wednesday after Memorial Day. On grants, S4 said the district will receive its high-ability grant allocation for the 2026–27 year before closing out 2025–26, which will allow some remaining 2025–26 funds to be used to support programming in 2026–27; parents will receive letters about eligibility and placements that "may change, depending on how that looks."
The meeting closed with reminders about commencement and summer-school start dates and confirmation there were no reported injuries from the day's student field events.
