Isanti County board approves consent agenda, road projects and multiple contracts in unanimous votes

At its April 21, 2026 meeting the Isanti County Board of Commissioners approved the agenda and a wide-ranging consent package including personnel moves, donations, utility permits and claims; it also authorized transportation agreements and contracts and set several planning public hearings, with all recorded motions passing unanimously (one commissioner absent).
The Isanti County Board of Commissioners met April 21, 2026, in the Government Center Board Room and approved the meeting agenda and a consolidated consent package that included personnel actions, donations, plats, utility permits and claims. Commissioners Alan Duff (chair, virtual), Berg, Christensen and LaRowe were present; Commissioner Westerberg was absent.
The board approved a multi-item consent agenda that ratified several hires and personnel changes, accepted donations including a $5,000 Initiative Foundation gift to a community pantry and a $1,000 Cambridge Township safety donation to the sheriff’s office, approved final plats for Andersons River Estates and Drayna Addition (each with conditions), authorized multiple utility permits, and approved claims and warrants totaling $375,488.98.
Board members also recorded a series of unanimous motions on departmental contracts and infrastructure. The board approved Health and Human Services vouchers and contract amendments; authorized a contract with the State of Minnesota (through the Commissioner of Agriculture) to administer Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program coupons for 2026; and approved other HHS contracting actions listed in the meeting packet.
On transportation, the board authorized Agreement No. 1062531 with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to allow select county roads to serve as detour routes during construction on Trunk Highway 65, awarded a $451,527.27 seal-coating contract for approximately 18.25 miles of county highways to Asphalt Surface Technologies Corp., and concurred with the City of Braham’s apparent low bid of $2,043,715.00 for the County Road 54 reconstruction project pending usual bidder-responsibility and permitting verifications.
The board accepted a Federal Boating Safety Supplemental Equipment Grant covering a 90-horsepower outboard motor (fully funded by federal and state grant dollars) and authorized payment of $21,000 to McDonough K9 for acquisition and training of a replacement K9 funded from the county’s K9 donations account. It also adopted the 2026 Isanti County Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Plan and approved a contract with Waterguards for watercraft inspection services on several lakes.
Planning and land-use actions included approval of a preliminary plat for Old House Hill (Jane Chapman Living Trust) and an amendment to a conditional use permit for Pam Streed’s farm winery with five standard findings. The board set public hearings on May 19, 2026, for a rezoning request by H2 Landholdings LLC and for two proposed amendments to the Isanti County Zoning Ordinance regarding transfer of development rights and development-rights protections for cemeteries and certain public uses.
All recorded roll-call votes on motions during the meeting were recorded as aye from Commissioners Duff, LaRowe, Christensen and Berg; Commissioner Westerberg was recorded absent. The board adjourned at 10:11 a.m.
