County approves $16,887 to replace failing culvert at Scales Lake

Ben Webb of the parks department described the need to replace a second large culvert at Scales Lake after the earlier replacement of its counterpart. Webb said the failed culvert was rusting and, when full, began to cave the road; the highway department supplied labor and the county will pay for rock, pipe and asphalt patching.
"So that's what this is for is to replace the second one," Webb said. The council moved to approve an additional appropriation of $16,887; the motion carried 7-0.
Webb thanked highway staff for providing labor and noted the repair will prevent roadway collapse at the site.
