Deputy surveyor briefs council; appropriation approved to continue section corner work

Amanda Moseman, deputy surveyor, told the council the office needs an additional appropriation because some section-corner work contracted in 2025 was paid from the 2026 budget instead of being carried as an encumbrance.
"We come before the council tonight needing an additional appropriation due to some errors made by staff and some unencumbered funds from the end of 2025," Moseman said. She explained the work is ongoing (doing section corner perpetuation in Township 5 South, Range 9 West near Campbell, Greer and Boone townships), noted the program began in 2020 and asked for funds to continue the schedule of resurveying a portion of section quarters annually.
The council moved and approved the appropriation; the clerk announced the motion carried 7-0.
