Board authorizes purchases for police weapons, wastewater equipment and several bid solicitations

Springettsbury supervisors on May 14 authorized several purchases and directed staff to advertise multiple bids for public-works projects.
The board approved a purchase of Glock 45 service weapons through Whitmer Public Safety Group under a CoStar contract for an amount not to exceed $47,280.30; Manager Mark told supervisors funds are available in the capital fund. "Money is included in the capital fund budget to cover this expense," Mark said.
The board next approved authorization to purchase an Aldec 556 centrifuge rotating assembly through Alfa Laval Incorporated for the wastewater treatment facility in an amount not to exceed $360,800. Staff noted long lead times for this equipment and said a portion of the cost will be paid at order and the remainder in 2027.
The supervisors also authorized advertising bids for installation of traffic-signal equipment at Northern Way/Eastern Boulevard and Kingston Road/Eastern Boulevard to use Green Light-Go grant funds; advertising for pulverized quicklime used at the wastewater plant; and advertising bids for 2026 road materials and paving. The traffic-signal authorization followed engineer John’s earlier explanation of the grant and equipment availability.
Action and implementation: motions to approve each purchase and each authorization to advertise were made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff indicated the centrifuge purchase is a shared expense for the wastewater treatment facility and that lead time will require phased payments. The traffic-signal work will proceed to bid so installation can occur within the grant timetable.
